Mount Rinjani

This is my honest, unfiltered experience of the full 3-day/2-night trek. What it actually feels like, what I wish I knew going in, and everything you need to know before you go.

Standing 3,726 meters above sea level, Mount Rinjani is Indonesia's second-highest volcano and one of the most iconic treks in Southeast Asia. Known for its epic summit views, turquoise crater lake, and hidden hot springs. It's also notorious for steep cliffs, loose volcanic ash, unpredictable weather, and long, punishing days. This mountain doesn't mess around.

Ala Kol

Three days, two nights, no guide, and everything we needed on our backs. I came to Kyrgyzstan without knowing Ala Kul existed. I made friends traveling across the country, they asked me to join, and I somehow ended up on my first unguided multi-day trek. This video shows what hiking Ala Kol actually feels like, what I wish I knew going in, and what you need to know if you want to do it yourself. The Ala Kol Trek takes you through the mountains outside Karakol to Ala Kol, a glacial lake sitting around 3,500 meters above sea level. From there, the trail climbs to Ala Kol Pass at nearly 3,900 meters before descending toward Altyn Arashan. Rapidly changing weather, freezing nights, steep climbs, incredible landscapes, and some of the best people I met while traveling Kyrgyzstan. This ended up being my favorite adventure in the country.

Japan

Skiing Japan is different. It's unique and I hope every passionate skier in the world gets to experience it one day. It’s quieter, deeper, and more emotional than anywhere else in the world. This black and white cinematic film captures the feeling of skiing in Hakuba Valley, home to some of the best powder, tree runs, and mountain culture in Japan. From first chair to last light, this video is about more than just turns. It’s about the stillness between runs, the weightless moments in deep snow, and the energy of skiing in one of the most legendary destinations on Earth. If you’re dreaming about a Japan ski trip, Hakuba powder, or what it actually feels like to ski in the Japanese Alps, this film is for you.

About

Paul Rabic

I’m Paul Rabic, a photographer, filmmaker, and storyteller drawn to the people, places, and moments that make life worth living.

My path here hasn’t been a straight line. I went from the corporate world to building a business in New York City, to pursuing a place on Team USA’s bobsled team and competing at the 2023 World Championships. Along the way, I’ve learned that the things worth doing rarely come with guarantees, and that some of the most meaningful experiences come from being willing to take a chance.

Today, I spend my time traveling, chasing adventures, making films, taking photographs, and finding stories worth telling. Whether I’m trekking through the mountains of Kyrgyzstan, navigating a new city, or finding beauty in an otherwise ordinary moment, I’m drawn to the details that make a place, a person, or an experience feel alive.

Through my work, I want to help people see the world a little differently. To notice more, feel more, and be reminded of how much life has to offer when we’re willing to step outside what’s familiar.

I work with brands, tourism boards, and creative teams to tell stories through photography, film, and thoughtful visual storytelling. The goal is always the same: create work that feels real, captures something meaningful, and stays with people long after they’ve seen it.

Life is short. Go live it.
